Common questions

How does Notch work? Choose what you want help with: track recovery from a habit, remember when a recurring task was last done, or count down to a date. Recovery clocks keep records and milestones; routines and events use their own actions without inflating recovery progress.

Where is my data stored? Entirely on your device. There are no accounts and no servers.

How do I back up or move my data? Open the ⋯ menu and choose Export backup. The readable JSON file includes hidden clocks, so keep it somewhere private. Choose Restore backup on another device or after reinstalling.

I reset a clock by accident. Tap Undo in the message shown after a reset or completion. Recovery attempts and routine completions are also retained in history.

Will it remind me? Reminders are off until you enable them for a clock. You can choose Minimal or Standard frequency and hold reminders during quiet hours.

Privacy Policy

No data collected

Notch is built to be completely private. It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information.

What Notch stores

What Notch does not do

Backups you control

If you use Export, Notch creates a readable JSON backup containing all clocks, including hidden clocks, and hands it to you through the system file picker. The file is not encrypted; where you store it is entirely your choice, and Notch never sends it anywhere on its own.

Website storage and cookies

The website uses no analytics, advertising, or third-party cookies. The browser version can use first-party local storage to keep your clocks on that device, but only after you choose Allow device saving. If you choose Use without saving, clocks remain in memory for that tab and disappear when the page is refreshed or closed.

The website stores the saving preference and clock data only in that browser. It is not sent to Notch or any third party. You can remove it at any time by clearing site data for notch.distyll.uk in your browser settings.

Children

Notch does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
